At Lambeth College we are proud to offer a comprehensive, responsive and inclusive Careers Service to learners to help them progress successfully to the next stage in their careers.
The College has a team of dedicated and professionally qualified Careers Advisers who are experienced in dealing with a wide range of career related issues. This may include:
- helping learners to explore their options if they are unsure of the career they wish to pursue
- finding voluntary work in order to gain the necessary skills for a particular job
- making an application for a place at university
- preparing for and applying for job opportunities
- learning how to start a business.
Ultimately most learners’ aim is to secure some form of employment and the Careers Team can help learners with the development of their employability skills. Employers want applicants to have the necessary qualifications and skills, and in addition, they require evidence of employability skills that show a person has drive, persistence and people skills to be able to do a job.
There is a member of the Careers Team at each of the College’s centres and learners may drop in to see a Careers Adviser daily between 11:00 am and 1:15 pm.
The Careers Team also deliver sessions to tutorial groups of learners and organise a range of college based and external events. The annual HE Fair, Parents Progression Evening, Careers & Volunteering Fair, UCAS convention and World Skills event, are just some of the activities that are on the annual Careers calendar of events for learners at the College.
In June 2011 the Careers Service was awarded the matrix quality standard for information, advice and guidance (IAG). This means that the service delivered at Lambeth College meets the nationally recognised criteria to achieve the quality kite mark.
