Lambeth College can help support you with your finances this year...
Don't be put off applying to college because of money worries. The Young Student Support Grant is Lambeth College’s own Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) replacement scheme to support you through your studies. Like the EMA, the money you could get from this fund will depend on your personal circumstances so we advise you to apply for support as soon as you enrol on your course.
New students for 2011/12 may be eligible for a Young Student Support Grant of up to £300 a year
If you received the EMA in 2009/10 then you will still receive the same amount if you continue your studies at the college in 2011/12
If you received the full EMA (£30) in 2010/11 you will receive £20 per week if you continue your studies at the college in 2011/12
If you received the EMA at the lower rate ( £20 or £10) in 2010/11 you may be eligible for our Young Student Support Grant of up to £300 a year in 2011/12
If you are in care or leaving care; in receipt of income support or are disabled and in receipt of ESA and DLA you will be eligible for a guaranteed payment of £1,200 over the academic year.
If you are a young parent aged under 20 at the start of the course, you are eligible to apply for Care to Learn free childcare (£175 per week paid to an OFsted registered nursery or childminder). If you are a young parent aged over 20 we may also be able to help you, please ask us.
Don’t forget: if you are aged under 19, your course is FREE and at Lambeth College and there are no hidden charges for exams, books or extra tuition. Many of our enrichment activities are free too. If you are on a full time course you can get free travel on buses and trams with your photo Oyster Card.
What to do next?: If you have already applied or are considering applying for a course in 2011/12, call our course advice team on 020 7501 5000 and they can advise you on the level of financial support you may be eligible to receive.
