Lambeth College achieves a CoLRiC Grade 1 for Learning Resources
Following a rigorous inspection by the Council for Learning Resources in Colleges (CoLRiC) this month, Lambeth College is proud to announce that its Learning Resources Services have achieved a Grade One, Gold Award.
This is the second and consecutive set of top marks the College has achieved for its Libraries, ILT and Learning Resources provision at all three of its centres.
CoLRiC assessors scrutinise every aspect of a college’s learning resources from the motivation and effectiveness of staff and management, the quality of materials and equipment, the satisfaction of students and how the service fits in to the overall vision and ethos of an institution.
CoLRiC specialise in providing a service to further education colleges and sixth forms across the UK and Ireland. Their mission is to drive continuous quality improvement, formulate national quality standards and provide a forum for networking and the sharing of good practice. Over two hundred and fifty schools and colleges are members and since 2006 only seven have attained a grade one in their inspections.
Assessors spent a day at Lambeth College surveying all aspects of our services. They also selected students at random to talk about their experiences and opinions. They pointed out a number of items in their feedback to the College which included highly motivated staff with an excellent skills base, high levels of investment into facilities and equipment, an excellent virtual library and on-line learning net, up-to-date, modern resources and high levels of student satisfaction with all aspects of the service.
Helen Davies is the Senior Learning Resources Manager at Lambeth College. She said: “We are delighted that our learning resources have, once again, been highly rated by CoLRiC. These inspections are always very comprehensive and thorough; no stone is left unturned. It’s great to know, therefore, that they have spotted all of our strengths and recognised the good practice, teamwork and communication that has gone into making a very productive and highly popular area of Lambeth College’s offer to its students.”
