A work in progress at Lambeth College's innovative Renewable Energy Centre.
In celebration of Colleges’ Week – staff and students from Lambeth College put the finishing touches to the innovative Renewable Energy Centre at the college’s Vauxhall site. The Centre is a space where students can learn new technologies relevant to the green agenda of making houses and buildings more energy efficient.
It is hoped that as well as attracting qualified plumbers and electricians, the Centre will encourage the local community to have a go at making their houses and work premises more environmentally friendly.
The first course to run from this Renewable Energy Centre will be Solar Photo-voltaic (PV) installation. The Centre will eventually offer courses in Awareness of environmental technology systems, Installation of small-scale solar PV systems, Installation of solar thermal hot water and Air source heat pumps.
The College has built partnerships with local employers Embrace Cooperation and Solar Century, who have both donated kit for the Centre.
Colleges’ Week is a national incentive to showcase the vital role that Colleges play in providing young people, adults and businesses in the UK with the opportunities they need to succeed.
